How do I get to Wales?
That depends where you're coming from. Our closest airports are Wales' International Airport - Cardiff, Bristol Airport or Heathrow - all of which have a wide choice of direct flights from Europe and further afield. Onward travel from these airports to Cardiff and other destinations in Wales is straightforward. See useful links for more information, or ask us!
We also offer airport transfers at discount prices for our tour guests.
Where & when do the tours start from and end?
Most of our tours will start from a central location in Cardiff, at 9:30am or thereabouts. We will send full joining instructions upon booking. Drop-off will usually be in the same place - drop off time depends on the tour you are taking, tour lengths vary.
If you are a group that wants a different departure point, please get in touch as we will do our best to accommodate you. We can take groups from across South Wales, Bristol and London by prior arrangement.
What is included in the tour price?
This differs from tour to tour but generally speaking all tours include transport, guide, entrance fees to planned stops, and some snacks / drinks. To appeal to everyone we offer the option to bring your own lunch, or we can provide it for you for a £10 supplement. Longer tours may include additional meals, and accommodation. Check individual tour descriptions for inclusions and prices.
How can I pay?
After having your booking accepted, we will send you a link to our secure payment page. We accept all major credit / debit cards and PayPal. We don't usually accept cash payments, but please ask us about this option if you're booking last minute. Payment in full secures your booking.
Are you a reliable company?
We pride ourselves in offering you a great experience from start to finish. We are compliant with the European Package Travel Regulations, fully insured and licensed. Our driver holds an advanced driving qualification for Private Hire. We take health and safety very seriously and your tour guide is fully equipped and trained in Remote Emergency First Aid.

Can you help to arrange transport & accommodation for me?
You need a minimum number for the tour to go ahead and I'm travelling solo - can I still book?
If you are one of the first to enquire for a particular date we can make you a provisional booking. Once we reach the minimum number for departure we will contact you to confirm. We don't like to cancel bookings, so instead we only confirm a tour once the minimum number of provisional bookings has been met. We allow up to 5pm the day before a tour for others to join. Please keep us informed if you no longer want your provisional booking.
We also arrange guaranteed departure private tours. Please ask if you are unsure.
Do I need to be really fit to go on these tours?
The amount of walking and difficulty of terrain varies between tours, so please read the tour itinerary and information carefully. Some tours have just a small amount of walking, and others are very active. If you're not sure then please ask and we can help advise you. We do make regular rest stops and the group stays together, so you'll never get left behind! We can always arrange tailored tours to suit all abilities - please enquire.
What do I need to pack?
We'll send you a handy packing list once you've booked, but you do need sturdy footwear - walking boots or similar are essential (no sandals or heels), waterproof & warm clothing, sun protection, drinking water, some spending money and don't forget your camera - you won't want to miss those views! We can't be held responsible for any losses so please take care of your stuff.
Are the tours suitable for families / children?
We regret that we are unable to accept under 18's travelling alone on our signature group tours. However we can welcome families and children accompanied by an adult, or by arranging a tailored tour for you, at comparable costs to our group tours. Please enquire. Ask us about arranging car seats and baby carriers for a tour. We have to charge for children to cover our costs, but may be able to offer discounts depending on their age. Please get in touch.
How does lunch work?
For £10 supplement we can provide you with a packed lunch (as long as we have at least 24 hours notice). This is usually ploughmans' style (ham, cheese, pies, pickles etc.) or afternoon tea (sandwiches, cakes, etc). Please let us have any dietary requirements or preferences. You are also welcome to bring a packed lunch with you. On some of the tours it will be possible to buy lunch on the day - but this isn't always the case so please check.
Can you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes, we can cater for food intolerances and vegetarian, vegan, halal & kosher diets, but for any severe allergy we are unable to guarantee no traces.
Do I need to tip the guide?
Tipping is always a personal choice in Wales. No offence is ever taken either way! If you've enjoyed your trip we'd love you to spread the word about Wales and Real Wales Tours in particular!
